sycamore ale cup

This , on the left is an ale cup.
On the right is a partially roughed blank of sycamore from a larger lump I bought from the saw mill. Carving this piece would be too much for me by hand, so power carving is the way I'll go.
Roughly the blank is 12x5x5 inches . Its my intention to add to the extremities two heads. This was because of the limitations of the timber used. It may also make the carving easier. If there is an advantage of using this heart wood its the fact that sycamore , if well sanded gives an ideal material for pyrographing. The hope is that I make a go at this and pyrograph a Keltic design.
